Canadian Trade: Global, Local and Inter-Provincial Trade Barriers
[ send me this report ]
This is a 3 page paper discussing different perceptions and aspects of Canadian trade in regards to municipal, provincial and global levels. Canadian trade varies in regards to its acceptance, perception and policies on the municipal, provincial or global levels. Many World Trade Organization (WTO) Members find that certain restrictive policies and tariffs in Canada present barriers in some markets although the WTO has found that access to the Canadian market is “generally liberal” despite some protectionist measures within the country. Canadian businesses interested in inter-provincial trade have found that the inter-provincial barriers are often too costly and it is more cost efficient to promote trade markets within the U.S. than within Canada itself; barriers which trade boards and chambers of commerce should eliminate in order allow Canadian businesses to prosper within Canada. On the other hand, certain municipalities have found that trade policies related to the GATS agreement have “liberalized” services to such an extent that national and international businesses now challenge local businesses; businesses municipalities wish to shield.

Canadian Welfare, 1935-1970
[ send me this report ]
A 6 page research paper that discusses the development of the Canadian welfare state between 1935 and 1970. While Canada’s program for universal health care, which is known as Medicare, is the principal focus of scholarship on the Canadian welfare state, this system has a broader scope that extends beyond health care, as it also addresses the needs of children, aboriginal peoples, and educational issues. Examination of literature on various aspects of the development of the Canadian welfare state between the years of 1935-1970 suggests that the processes involved in bringing benefits to the populace also entailed factors by which the government endeavored to initiate forms of social control. Catherine Burgess: Steel worker.
[ send me this report ]
(5 pp) What does the name "steelworker" make you
think of? Sparks against an early morning sky
because it is cooler to work then. The steel
skeleton, of a building, waiting for the rest of
its body to join it? The arrogance of the man as
he knows he is the one who is "makin'" this thing.
Easy picture ,right? Don't you want to have him
pull a sweaty bandanna out from his back pocket
and wipe his brow? That too. Not to worry - you
may have the idea of some of the strength
involved, but it is not a clear picture of this
steelworker. Catherine Burgess has worked for
over twenty years in steel-based, mixed media
sculpture. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Within the last decade, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) initiated a communications plan introduced by the External Review Committee which would increase communications internally in the organization and externally with the public and emergency personnel. Since the introduction of the plan several processes have been implemented which have seen the conception of this plan. Within the organization, several communication channels have been introduced such as the new conflict management program called the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Project which has created an open and interactive dispute process replacing the slower grievance submission process. Comparison of Two Immigrant Groups in Canada: South Korean and Vietnamese Communities and Integration into Canadian Society
[ send me this report ]
This is a 5 page paper comparing the immigrant communities of South Koreans and Vietnamese within Canada. The communities of South Korean and Vietnamese immigrants are vastly different in their history, culture and reasons for coming to Canada but have nevertheless experienced some of the same influences within Western society and aspects of assimilation and integration. Since a relationship was established with South Korea in the early 1960s, South Korean immigrants have been moving to Canada and live mainly in the urban areas of Toronto and Vancouver. Several Consulate Generals for the Republic of Korea (South Korea) have been established throughout Canada providing representation and aid to South Koreans within Canada. The South Korean community in Toronto has greatly influenced the culture in that city although the youth within the population have expressed a desire to fully assimilate as Westerners. Similarly, the large Vietnamese communities in the urban cities in Canada have a good official representation with over 15 member communities with a Vietnamese Canadian Federation. This federation hopes that the Vietnamese youths balance their cultural origins within their new Canadian lifestyles and while the census has recorded trends of assimilation despite this hope, stories of Vietnamese Canadians provide accounts of how many of them have incorporated their Vietnamese culture into their Western lives.
