Academic Achievement and Children from Single or Two-Parent
Homes
[ send me this report ]
This 10 page report discusses the differences that exist
in academic achievement of children from a single parent home and
those from homes in which two parents are present. Convincing
arguments have been made for all sides of the question. In fact,
there are those researchers who believe that it is not possible
to accurately determine a child’s academic progress or capability
based on just the issue of whether they are from one- or
two-parent family homes. For example questions should be asked
about socio-economic status, whether the child has a meaningful
and positive relationship with the parent living outside the
home, and if the child’s parent has never been married, has been
widowed rather than divorced, and whether or not one of the
parents is a step-parent. Bibliography lists 10 sources.

9 pages in length. Academic dishonesty, like all other forms of deviance, has important sociological dimensions. Admission Essay: MA in Education
[ send me this report ]
A 4 page paper placing the phrase, “Why I want to be a teacher” in more academic terms. The paper concludes that teachers always have had the opportunity to have lasting influence in students’ lives, but it appears that today’s educational environment holds more promise for that outcome than existed in previous generations. A solution for lack of performance in the past was to “throw money” at whatever symptom gained attention first. Today’s budgetary constraints prevent that from being the first – and even the only – alternative considered, encouraging the use of creativity and visionary thinking instead. Bibliography lists 3 sources.

Adolescent Grief
[ send me this report ]
This is a 3 page paper discussing adolescent grief, its differences from that of childhood and adult grief, reactions and school involvement in the bereavement process. Attending to the needs of grieving adolescents is considered an area of counseling and psychiatry which has been overlooked for many years. While there have been services and guidance in relation to grieving adults and children, there is considered to be an absence of programs in regards to teen services. Adolescent grief is considered different than that of child and adult grief because of the mixed messages often given by the adolescents themselves in that many are trying to strive for independence yet still recognize that they have some dependence on family members and others close to them. In addition, while adolescent grief is sometimes considered similar to that of adults, it is compounded with the additional stresses experienced during adolescence. Because of this adolescents often handle their grief with different reactions from those experienced by younger children and older adults.
