Analysis Of Homer's "The Iliad" Book 24
[ send me this report ]
9 pages in length. When the student approaches a literary analysis of Homer's Book 24 of The Iliad, it will be important to assess the extent to which this particular book's artistic facets incorporate themselves with the story's overall aesthetic experience. Expounding upon the context of composition and thematic structure of The Iliad's entire setting, the student may choose to correlate the story's tragic hero leitmotif as it relates to the intrinsic appeal to the literary aesthetic experience. Indeed, the aesthetics of tragedy inevitably color the mood of the story line, allowing for the reader to detect inferences from this aesthetics principle as to whether the mood is somber (tragic). Bibliography lists 8 sources.

Antigone
[ send me this report ]
5 pages in length. In the play Antigone by Sophocles, the reader is shown a difference between the attitudes of the males and the females in Greek society. Bibliography cites one source.

Antigone & Billy Budd/Lessons to be Learned
[ send me this report ]
A 3 page essay that argues that the main theme in both Sophocles' Antigone and Herman Melville's Billy Budd is a warning that the society that ignores humanitarian issues does so at its own peril. These narratives warn us that the society that puts punitive justice ahead of all else may be enacting a certain kind of justice, but it does so at the expense of its own soul. In a country that is prosecuting children to the full extent of the law, it is a lesson that should be noticed. No additional sources cited.

Aristophanes' 'Lysistrata': Feminism
[ send me this report ]
4 pages in length. Swirling with elements of sex, power and control, it has been argued that Aristophanes' Lysistrata is the conception of feminism as we know it today. Aristophanes' "The Birds": Would He Be Offended If It Were Recast With A Feminist Twist?
[ send me this report ]
6 pages in length. Would Aristophanes have turned over in his grave if he had seen the following feminist production of his play The Birds? Indeed, one could readily argue that he would not be the least bit appalled at what the female director had done to transform his historical work into one that reflects modern day existence. While Greece was recovering from the Trojan War, the journeys of Odysseus reveal to the readers that the ancients Gods and myths played a major role in everyday life and recollection of events in addition to the admiration of the qualities of hospitality, honor, athletic ability, story telling, organization and song within the everyday lives of the Greeks while qualities such as pride and arrogance were abhorred.
